Career Days at RJH Connect Students, Community and Corporations

Did you know an affinity for doodling can lead to a degree in Industrial Design and a career as a footwear designer within a $12B Fortune 500 corporation? While students were busy learning at the headquarters of a global company, across town posts were being created as Rye Junior High students collaborated with Seacoast United's social media team.

Timberland and Seacoast United hosted RJH 8th graders in a unique opportunity to experience a day in the life of industry leading corporations in the Seacoast.  Students had the opportunity to hear firsthand from seasoned professionals in the fields of social media, marketing, design and HR followed by a deeper dive as 12 executives representing 10 industries exposed Rye students to various career paths as part of the RJH guidance curriculum.  The students were fortunate to have a wonderful variety of speakers this year. The combination of the two events created powerful “aha” moments for students as captured below.
  • "I loved being able to see behind the scenes at a major company, and I think it really gave us a great view of the real world."
  • "I enjoyed how everyone loved their jobs and were so excited to tell us about what they do."
  • "I LOVED ITǃ  It was so interesting and cool to see how a company works. I will never look at a Timberland shoe the same way after seeing how it's made and the effort that goes into creating and selling it."

Thank you to the executives who spoke and management teams at Timberland and Seacoast United for leading by example!
